IC 783 is a lenticular dwarf galaxy of the Hubble type SB0 / a in the constellation Coma Berenices in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 54 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 20,000 light years across. It is listed as part of the Virgo galaxy cluster under catalog number VVC 490 .
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 4312 , NGC 4321 , NGC 4323 , NGC 4328 .
The object was discovered by Lewis Swift on April 6, 1888 .
