NGC 4312 is a spiral dwarf galaxy with extensive star formation regions of the Hubble type Sab in the constellation Coma Berenices in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 35 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 70,000 light years in diameter. The galaxy is listed under catalog number VVC 559 as part of the Virgo galaxy cluster .
In the same area of ​​the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 4321 , NGC 4323 , NGC 4328 , IC 783 .

The object was discovered by Wilhelm Herschel on January 14, 1787 .
