NGC 4313 is a spiral galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type Sab in the constellation Virgo on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 62 million light years from the Milky Way and about 75,000 light years in diameter. The galaxy is listed under catalog number VVC 570 as part of the Virgo galaxy cluster . It probably forms a bound galaxy pair with PGC 40096 .

In the same area of ​​the sky are u. a. the galaxies IC 3196 , IC 3208 , IC 3209 , IC 3239 .

The object was discovered on March 15, 1784 by the astronomer William Herschel using his 18.7-inch reflector telescope.
