IC 3196 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type S in the constellation Virgo to the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 867 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 100,000 ly.

The object was discovered by Royal Harwood Frost on May 7, 1904 .
