IC 3199 is a lenticular galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type SB0-a R in the constellation Virgo north of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 352 million light years from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 105,000 ly. The galaxy is listed under catalog number VVC 500 as part of the Virgo Galaxy Cluster.
The galaxies NGC 4320 , NGC 4325 , IC 3220 , IC 3240 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered by Royal Harwood Frost on May 7, 1904 .
