IC 3240 is an elliptical galaxy of Hubble type E4 in the constellation Virgo north of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 902 million light years from the Milky Way and approximately 135,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 4320 , NGC 4325 , IC 3236 , IC 3275 .
The object was discovered by Royal Harwood Frost on May 7, 1904 .
