IC 3238 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 / a in the constellation Coma Berenices in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 567 million light-years from the Milky Way and about 65,000 light-years across. The galaxy is listed as a member of the Virgo galaxy cluster under catalog number VVC 617, but it is too far away for that.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 4298 , NGC 4302 , NGC 4377 , IC 3244 .
The object was discovered by Royal Harwood Frost on May 7, 1904 .
