IC 3225 is a spiral galaxy of the Hubble type Sd with extensive star formation areas in the constellation Virgo on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 102 million light years from the Milky Way .
The object was discovered by Arnold Schwassmann on November 4, 1899 .
