IC 3233 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Virgo north of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 344 million light years from the Milky Way and about 30,000 light years across.
The galaxies NGC 4305 , NGC 4306 , IC 3224 , IC 3258 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered on May 7, 1904 by the American astronomer Royal Harwood Frost .
