NGC 4445 = IC 793 is an active dwarf galaxy with extensive star formation areas of the Hubble type Sab in the constellation Virgo north of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 13 million light years from the Milky Way and about 10,000 light years in diameter. Together with twelve other galaxies, it forms the NGC 4442 group ( LGG 288 ) and is listed as a member of the Virgo galaxy cluster under catalog number VCC 1118 .

In the same area of ​​the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 4424 , NGC 4442 , NGC 4451 , IC 3366 .

The object was discovered on April 24, 1865 by the astronomer Heinrich Louis d'Arrest .
