NGC 4446 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sc in the constellation Coma Berenices the northern sky . It is an estimated 325 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 105,000 ly. The galaxy is listed under catalog number VVC 1072 as a member of the Virgo galaxy cluster . It is likely gravitationally tied to its neighbor NGC 4447 .
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 4459 , NGC 4468 , NGC 4474 , IC 3382 .
The object was discovered by Lewis Swift on April 17, 1887 .
