NGC 4466 is a spiral dwarf galaxy with extensive star formation areas of the Hubble type Sab in the constellation Virgo north of the ecliptic . It is an estimated 31 million light years away from the Milky Way , has a diameter of about 10,000 ly and is listed under catalog number VVC 1193 as part of the Virgo galaxy cluster .
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 4465 , NGC 4467 , NGC 4470 , NGC 4472 .
The object was discovered by Bindon Blood Stoney on February 26, 1851 .
