NGC 4483 is a lenticular dwarf galaxy of the Hubble type SB0 / a in the constellation Virgo north of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 20 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 25,000 ly. The galaxy is listed under catalog number VVC 1303 as part of the Virgo galaxy cluster .
In the same area of ​​the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 4451 , NGC 4469 , NGC 4488 , IC 3430 .

The object was discovered on March 19, 1865 by Heinrich Louis d'Arrest .
