NGC 4503 is a Lenticular Galaxy of the Hubble-type SB0 in the constellation Virgo on the ecliptic . It has an angular extent of 3.5 '× 1.7' and an apparent magnitude of 11.1 mag. The galaxy is around 57 million light years away from the Milky Way , has a diameter of around 65,000 light years, and is listed as a member of the Virgo Galaxy Cluster under the catalog name VCC 1412 .
The galaxies IC 3437 , IC 3446 , IC 3470 , IC 3483 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered on March 15, 1784 by William Herschel .
