NGC 4518 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type SB0 in the constellation Virgo on the ecliptic . It is estimated at 289 million light years from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 85,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky there are u. a. the galaxies NGC 4526 , NGC 4535 , NGC 4560 , IC 3438 .
The object was discovered by John Herschel on December 27, 1827 .
