NGC 4525 is a faint spiral galaxy of the Hubble type Sab / P in the constellation Haar der Berenike in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 53 million light years from the Milky Way and approximately 40,000 light years in diameter. Together with 18 other galaxies, it forms the NGC 4274 group ( LGG 279 ).
In the same area of the sky is u. a. the galaxy NGC 4514 .
The object was discovered on March 13, 1785 by the astronomer William Herschel using his 18.7-inch mirror telescope.
