NGC 4539 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBa in the constellation Coma Berenices in the northern sky . It is an estimated 61 million light years away from the Milky Way and is about 60,000 light years in diameter.
The galaxies IC 3473 , IC 3484 , IC 3530 , IC 3580 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered by John Herschel on March 17, 1831 .
