NGC 4532 is an irregular galaxy with extensive star formation regions of the Hubble type IBm in the constellation Virgo on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 87 million light-years away from the Milky Way and has a disk diameter of around 70,000 ly. It is listed as a member of the Virgo Galaxy Cluster under catalog number VCC 1554 .
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 4543 , IC 3521 , IC 3576 , IC 3591 .
The object was discovered by Wilhelm Herschel on April 13, 1784 .
