IC 3483 is a spiral dwarf galaxy of the Hubble type SBb / P in the constellation Virgo on the ecliptic . The galaxy is estimated to be 3 million light years from the Milky Way and about 1,000 light years across.

Together with IC 3481 and PGC 41646 , it forms the galaxy triplet Arp 175 . It is listed as a member of the Virgo galaxy cluster under catalog number VCC 1486 , but is too far away for that.

Halton Arp organized his catalog of unusual galaxies into groups according to purely morphological criteria. This galaxy belongs to the class galaxies with narrow opposing arms .

In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 4503 , NGC 4528 , IC 3470 , IC 3481 .

The object was discovered by Royal Harwood Frost on May 10, 1904 .
