IC 3476 is an irregular dwarf galaxy with extensive star formation regions of the Hubble type IBm in the constellation Coma Berenices in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 7 million light years from the Milky Way . It is listed as a member of the Virgo galaxy cluster under catalog number VCC 1450 . In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 4501 , IC 3442 , IC 3478 , IC 3500 .
The supernova SN 1970A was observed here.
The object was discovered by Arnold Schwassmann on November 22nd, 1900 .
