The Eschwege parish was a parish of the Evangelical Church of Kurhessen-Waldeck (EKKW) in the Kassel district. On January 1, 2020, it merged with the neighboring church district of Witzenhausen to form the Werra-Meißner church district .
39,000 Protestant Christians lived in the 78 parishes of the church district. There were 12 church-sponsored day-care centers, a family education center and the church district office in Eschwege , which was also responsible for the Witzenhausen church district. The last head of the church district was Dean Dr. Martin Arnold. The church district existed since 1924, when the new constitution of the Evangelical Church in Hessen-Kassel , the predecessor church of the EKKW, came into force.
Communities
The church district extended roughly over the political communities of the old district of Eschwege : Berkatal , Meißner , Meinhard , Wehretal , Eschwege, Wanfried , Weißenborn , Waldkappel , Sontra , Ringgau and Herleshausen .
location
It bordered the Hessian church districts of Witzenhausen in the north, Melsungen in the west and Rotenburg in the south, and the Evangelical Church in Central Germany in the east.
