The parish of Melsungen was a parish of the Evangelical Church of Kurhessen-Waldeck in the Marburg district . On January 1, 2020, it merged with the neighboring church districts Fritzlar-Homberg and Ziegenhain to form the church district Schwalm-Eder .

Around 31,000 Protestant Christians lived in the 40 parishes of the church district. The dean Norbert Mecke was most recently in charge of the church district. The seat of the church district was Melsungen .

Communities

The church district of Melsungen extended over part of the Schwalm-Eder district , the district of Hersfeld-Rotenburg and the district of Kassel . The church district included the political communities Melsungen (except for Günsterode ), Spangenberg , Morschen , Malsfeld (except for Mosheim , Ostheim and Sipperhausen ), Alheim (only Heinebach ), Felsberg (only Altenbrunslar , Neuenbrunslar , Hilgershausen and Wolfershausen ), Gudensberg (only Deute ), Körle , Guxhagen and Fuldabrück (only Dennhausen , Dittershausen and Dörnhagen ). 25 pastors were responsible for pastoral work in the parishes .

From 1989 to 2012 Rudolf Schulze (from 2012 to 2016 also President of the Regional Synod ) was dean of the church district. On May 1, 2013 Norbert Mecke took over the leadership of the church district as dean. The deanery church was the city ​​church of Melsungen .
