history

On January 1, 2019, the structure of the Evangelical Church of Kurhessen-Waldeck was changed. The formerly four districts of Kassel, Waldeck-Marburg, Hersfeld and Hanau became the districts of Kassel, Marburg and Hanau-Hersfeld. The regional synod decided on the reorganization at its spring meeting in 2018.

With the new legal regulation, the district of Marburg includes the church districts Fritzlar-Homberg , Melsungen and Ziegenhain of the old district of Hersfeld in addition to the previous church districts Eder , Kirchhain , Marburg and Twiste-Eisenberg .
