The Marburg parish is a parish of the Evangelical Church of Kurhessen-Waldeck in the Marburg district . Around 48,000 Protestant Christians live in the 27 parishes of the church district. Dean Burkhard zur Nieden is the head of the church district. The dean's representative is Pastor Ulrich Biskamp. The President of the Synod is Nadine Bernshausen. The seat of the church district is Marburg .

Communities

The church district extends over the political communities Marburg an der Lahn, Ebsdorfergrund , Fronhausen , Lohra and Weimar (all Marburg-Biedenkopf ), as well as Winnen ( district of Gießen ). On January 1, 2012, it was newly formed from the previous church districts Marburg-Land and Marburg-Stadt and now consists of the following parishes:

It borders in the north and east on the Kirchhain church district (EKKW), in the west on the deaneries Biedenkopf and Gladenbach and in the south on the deaneries Kirchberg and Gießen (all four EKHN ).

Church music

In the city of Marburg there are several Protestant choirs , such as the Kurhessische Kantorei or the Kantorei der Elisabethkirche. There are also numerous trumpet choirs in the church district . The two district cantors for the parish of Marburg are Christiane Kessler and Nils Kuppe. The regional church music director of the Evangelical Church of Kurhessen-Waldeck is based in Marburg.
