The Hersfeld parish was a parish of the Evangelical Church of Kurhessen-Waldeck in the Hanau-Hersfeld district. On January 1, 2020, it merged with the neighboring parish of Rotenburg to form the parish of Hersfeld-Rotenburg .

Around 45,000 Protestant Christians lived in the 40 parishes of the church district. There were eight church-sponsored day-care centers in the church district as well as the church district office, which had also been responsible for the Rotenburg church district since 2005. The last head of the church district was Dean Dr. Frank Hofmann. The seat of the church district was Bad Hersfeld .
