The Gelnhausen church district was one of the church districts of the Evangelical Church of Kurhessen-Waldeck within the Hanau-Hersfeld district. On January 1, 2020, it merged with the neighboring church district Schlüchtern to form the church district Kinzigtal .
Around 41,000 church members lived in the 20 parishes
Geographical location
The church district encompassed the entire former district of Gelnhausen and thus extended to an area that extends from the southern Vogelsberg foothills to the Spessart. It bordered the Hanau parish in the west, the Schlüchtern parish in the east and was otherwise surrounded by the areas of the Evangelical Church in Hesse and Nassau in the north and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria in the south.
