The Rotenburg parish was a parish of the Evangelical Church of Kurhessen-Waldeck (EKKW) in the Hanau-Hersfeld district. On January 1, 2020, it merged with the neighboring parish of Hersfeld to form the parish of Hersfeld-Rotenburg .

29,366 Protestant Christians lived in the 39 parishes of the church district. There were nine church-sponsored day-care centers in the church district. The last head of the church district was Dean Gisela Strohriegl. The seat of the church district was Rotenburg an der Fulda .

Communities

The church district extended roughly over the political communities of the old district of Rotenburg without the city of Sontra and made up roughly the north of the district of Hersfeld-Rotenburg .

location

It bordered the Hessian church districts of Eschwege and Melsungen in the north, Fritzlar-Homberg in the west and Hersfeld in the south, and the Evangelical Church in Central Germany in the east.
