Ștefan Petrescu (born July 1, 1931 in Râmnicu Sărat ; † 1993 ) was a Romanian sports shooter .
successes
Ștefan Petrescu took part in two Olympic Games : at the Olympic Games in Melbourne in 1956 , he set a new Olympic record in competition with the rapid-fire pistol over 25 m with 587 points. He took first place and became Olympic champion . Four years later he finished fifth in Rome with 585 points and was only two points behind the three medal winners with equal points. Between the games he managed to win the bronze medal at the World Championships in Moscow in 1958 . After his career as an active marksman, he became a shooting coach.
