Cornelius van Oyen

Cornelius Maria van Oyen (born November 28, 1886 in Brandenburg an der Havel , † January 19, 1954 in Berlin ) was a German marksman and Olympic champion with the rapid fire pistol.

Cornelius van Oyen was the son of an accountant who had immigrated from the Netherlands. He was an inspector at the Berlin Bötzow brewery ; his training stand was housed in a basement of the brewery.

At the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin he won the gold medal with 36 rings in front of the German officer Heinz Hax and the Swede Torsten Ullman . In 1937 and 1939 Cornelius van Oyen received the bronze medal at the World Cup with the German team. In 1939 he also won the silver medal in the individual ranking behind Ullman.
