Henry Marvin Bailey (born April 24, 1893 in Colleton County , † November 1, 1972 in Walterboro ) was an American sports marksman .

Henry Bailey took part in the 1924 Olympic Games in Paris , where he started with the rapid-fire pistol. Together with seven other competitors, he initially achieved the maximum number of points of 18 hits, so that there were several jump-offs afterwards. After six rounds, in which Bailey always hit all six targets, only himself and Vilhelm Carlberg were left. In the seventh round, Bailey managed to hit all targets again, while Carlberg missed two. Bailey received the gold medal as an Olympic champion .
During the Games, Bailey, a professional soldier, held the rank of Gunnery Sergeant . Until he retired from active service in 1947, he was promoted to warrant officer . He had joined the Marines in 1910 , where he demonstrated his shooting talent early on. He received several awards as a sniper.
