Christian Reitz (born April 29, 1987 in Löbau ) is a German marksman . He shoots with the rapid fire pistol .

life and career

Christian Reitz is police chief inspector, started for SV Kriftel and is trained by Detlef Glenz. He is a member of the sports promotion group of the Hessian police , where he completed his studies as a police commissioner at the Hessian University for Police and Administration . First he achieved great success in the junior area. In 2003 he was sixth at the European Championships in Pilsen , eighth a year later in Munich and seventh in Belgrade in 2005 . At the 2006 World Championships in Zagreb Reitz won the gold medal as well as the following year at the European Championships in Granada . With the air pistol , he finished fourth in Deauville in 2007 .

Reitz has been competing in the men's division since 2008, winning World Cups for the first time in Milan and Rio de Janeiro , and finishing second in Munich. In Milan he set the world record with 591 rings and set a new world record in the finals with 794.0 rings (old final mode). Reitz qualified for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing . There he won the bronze medal with the Pardini SP electronic rapid fire pistol behind the Ukrainian Oleksandr Petriw and the German Ralf Schumann . Reitz was awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf by the then Federal President Horst Köhler in November 2008 . In addition, he was inducted into the "Hall of Fame" of the German Rifle Federation and was Police Sportsman of the Year in Hesse in 2008.

In 2010 Reitz won the police world championships in two competitions, a fortnight later he finished fourth in the rapid fire week in Wiesbaden.

At the first European Games in Baku, Reitz won gold twice and thus became the most successful shooter within the German Shooting Federation. In 2016, he won the gold medal with the rapid fire pistol at the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro . For this, on November 1, 2016, Federal President Joachim Gauck awarded him the Silver Laurel Leaf - the highest sporting award in Germany.

At the European Games 2019 in Minsk , Belarus , he and his wife Sandra won the bronze medal in the air pistol mixed team.
