life and career

At the Olympic Games in London in 1948 he won with 580 rings and nine rings ahead of the Argentine world champion and world record holder Enrique Sáenz-Valiente . In 1952 in Helsinki Takács scored 579 rings, one ring more than his compatriot Szilárd Kun , making Takács the first shooter to repeat his Olympic victory with a rapid-fire pistol. At the Olympic Games in Melbourne in 1956 , he finished eighth with 575 rings. Two years later he won the bronze medal at the World Cup with the Hungarian team. With the large-caliber pistol, Takács received a second bronze medal at the 1958 World Cup.

After his career, Károly Takács was a junior coach at Honved Budapest.
