Carlos Enrique Díaz Sáenz-Valiente (born January 25, 1917 in Mar del Plata , † February 14, 1956 in Atos Pampa ) was an Argentine sports shooter and racing driver .

Marksman

Enrique Sáenz-Valiente was a successful sports shooter in the 1940s and 1950s. At the 1948 Summer Olympics in London , he achieved the silver medal in shooting with the rapid fire pistol at a distance of 25 meters behind the Hungarian Károly Takács . In this discipline he was four years later , at the Olympic Games in Helsinki , fourth. In 1947 he shot himself to the world title in Stockholm .

Racing career

Enrique Sáenz-Valiente was active as a men's driver in the 1950s . He was almost unbeatable in national Argentine sports car races between 1953 and 1955. In 21 starts he was victorious 14 times and came in second 3 times. His biggest success was the overall victory in the World Sportscar Championship in 1955 scoring 1000 km Buenos Aires . The partner in the Ferrari 375 Plus was his compatriot José-Maria Ibánez .

He died in a plane crash in February 1956.
