1000 km race in Buenos Aires 1955
The second 1000 km race of Buenos Aires , also GP Buenos Aires 1000 Kilometers, Autódromo Municipal , took place on January 23, 1955 on the Autódromo Municipal-Avenida Paz and was the first race of the sports car world championship of that year.
The race
In contrast to the race of the previous year , only two international works teams found their way to South America in 1955; the Scuderia Ferrari and Gordini . The organizer moved the race from the Autódromo Juan y Oscar Alfredo Gálvez to a bumpy 17 km road circuit. Both factory Ferraris started from the front row, but were disqualified in the race. Umberto Maglioli and Clemar Bucci's car had been pushed at the start and the fastest in training, Maurice Trintignant , was withdrawn from the race prematurely due to a non-compliant engine.
The victory nevertheless went to Ferrari. Enrique Sáenz-Valiente and José-Maria Ibánez won in a privately registered Ferrari 375 Plus .
