Poursac is a French municipality with 204 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Charente in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016 Poitou-Charentes ); it belongs to the Arrondissement Confolens and the canton Charente-Nord (until 2015 Ruffec ). The inhabitants are called Poursacais .

Poursac is located about 34 kilometers north-northeast of Angoulême on the Charente . Poursac is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Verteuil-sur-Charente in the north and north-west, Saint-Georges in the north, Nanteuil-en-Vallée in the north-east, Saint-Gourson in the east and south-east, Couture in the south and south-east, Aunac-sur-Charente in the South as well as Chenon to the west and southwest.
