history
Around 1025, the Saint-Pierre Abbey was founded by Bishop Arnaud de Vitabre of Périgueux . The construction of today's monastery church probably didn't begin until around 1060; after its completion, a smaller previous building was demolished towards the end of the 11th century. The abbey formed, so to speak, the crystallization nucleus for the development of the place.

Others
- The impressive death lantern ( lanterne des morts ) in the village's cemetery dates from the 12th century. The column-like monument, which is around 12.20 meters high, rises on a circular, stepped substructure, in the middle of which there is an angular base zone. Above it rises an approximately 6.5 meter high bundled column consisting of eight services (four larger and four smaller). Above the circumferential capital zone, the building ends in a conical tip studded with small spikes and closes with a cross. Four small openings at the base of the tip of the cone probably originally served to accommodate the death lights and were only accessible from the outside by means of a ladder; possibly because of this, another, more easily accessible opening was placed in one of the services at a later time. The death lantern from Cellefrouin is often compared to that from Fenioux , although it is significantly smaller and does not have a spiral staircase ( vis ) hidden in the column shaft ; In addition, there are certain similarities to the Hosanna crosses ( croix hosannières ) widespread in the region - especially to that of Rioux . The death lantern has been classified as a monument historique since 1886 .
- Close to the center of the village there is a lavoir sunk into the ground and supplied with water from a well .
- A little above the village stands the - now abandoned - Protestant church ( temple ), a building from the 19th century.
