The inhabitants are called Saint-Goursonnais .

Saint-Gourson is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Nanteuil-en-Vallée in the north, Chassiecq in the east, Saint-Sulpice-de-Ruffec in the south, Couture in the south and south-west and Poursac in the west and north-west.
