Nanclars is a French municipality with 204 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Charente in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016 Poitou-Charentes ); it belongs to the Arrondissement Confolens ( Angoulême until 2017 ) and the canton Boixe-et-Manslois ( Saint-Amant-de-Boixe until 2015 ). The inhabitants are called Nanclardois .

Nanclars is located about 22 kilometers north-northeast of Angoulême . Nanclars is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Puyréaux in the north, Saint-Ciers-sur-Bonnieure in the east and north-east, Val-de-Bonnieure in the east and south-east, Aussac-Vadalle in the south and west and Maine-de-Boixe in the west.
