The Communauté de communes Cœur de Charente is a French association of municipalities with the legal form of a Communauté de communes in the department of Charente in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It was founded on December 19, 2016 and comprises 51 municipalities (as of January 1, 2019). The administrative headquarters are in Tourriers .

Historical development

The community association was created with effect from January 1, 2017 through the merger of the predecessor organizations

• Community de communes de la Boixe ,
• Communauté de communes du Pays d'Aigre and
• Communauté de communes du Pays Manslois

with the simultaneous formation of the Commune nouvelle Aunac-sur-Charente .

On January 1, 2018, the former municipalities of Saint-Angeau , Sainte-Colombe and Saint-Amant-de-Bonnieure formed the Commune nouvelle Val-de-Bonnieure . This reduced the number of member churches to 52.

On January 1, 2019, the former municipalities of Aigre and Villejésus formed the Commune nouvelle Aigre . This reduced the number of member churches to 51.
