Ambérac is a French municipality with 319 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Charente in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016 Poitou-Charentes ); it belongs to the Arrondissement Confolens ( Angoulême until 2017 ) and the canton Boixe-et-Manslois ( Saint-Amant-de-Boixe until 2015 ). The inhabitants are called Ambéracois .

Ambérac is located about 25 kilometers north-northwest of Angoulême . Ambérac is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Fouqueure in the north, Villognon in the east, Coulonges in the south-east, Saint-Amant-de-Boixe in the south and south-west, Vervant in the west and south-west and Cellettes in the west and north-west.
