MONTEMBOEUF is a French municipality with 653 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Charente in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine ; it belongs to the Arrondissement Confolens and the canton Charente-Bonnieure (until 2015: canton Montembœuf ). The inhabitants are called Montembelviens .

Montembœuf is located about 33 kilometers east-northeast of Angoulême . Montembœuf is surrounded by the neighboring communities Cherves-Châtelars in the north and north-east, Le Lindois in the south and east, Mazerolles in the south and south-west, Saint-Adjutory in the west and south-west and Vitrac-Saint-Vincent in the west and north-west.
