Lessac is a French municipality with 576 inhabitants (as of 2011) in the north of the department of Charente in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine ; it belongs to the Arrondissement of Confolens and the canton of Charente-Vienne .

geography

The village is six kilometers north of Confolens on the D71 road, a few hundred meters west of the Vienne River . The Clouère rises in the district of the municipality .

  • Chapel of Sainte Radegonde in the hamlet of the same name
  • Dolmen Sainte Madeleine on an island in the Vienne . The dolmen was converted into a chapel in the Middle Ages and is a listed building.

Domaine de Boisbuchet

About three kilometers north of the town center is the Domaine de Boisbuchet with the Château de Boisbuchet, built in 1865 on a hill above the Vienne. The palace and the 150-hectare estate were bought in 1989 by the German art collector Alexander von Vegesack , curator and director of the Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein , in order to use it for workshops for artists, designers, architects and interested students during the summer months use. A number of experimental buildings have since been erected in the Boisbuchet Architectural Park, including:

  • The Japanese Guest House / La maison d'hôtes japonaise (built in Japan in 1860 and rebuilt in Boisbuchet)

  • The bamboo house and the conference pavilion / La maison de bambou et la salle de conferences ( Simón Vélez , Colombia )
  • The pyramid / La pyramide (Brückner & Brückner)
