Montignac-Charente is a French municipality with 728 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Charente in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016 Poitou-Charentes ); it belongs to the Arrondissement Confolens ( Angoulême until 2017 ) and the canton Boixe-et-Manslois ( Saint-Amant-de-Boixe until 2015 ). The inhabitants are called Montignacais .

Montignac-Charente is about fourteen kilometers north-northwest of Angoulême on the Charente . Montignac-Charente is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Amant-de-Boixe in the north and east, Vars in the south and south-east, Saint-Genis-d'Hiersac in the south-west and Vouharte in the west and north-west.
