Le Grand-Madieu is a French municipality with 173 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Charente in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016 Poitou-Charentes ); it belongs to the Arrondissement Confolens and the canton Charente-Bonnieure (until 2015 Saint-Claud ). The inhabitants are called Madieusains .

Le Grand-Madieu is located about 38 kilometers north-northeast of Angoulême . Le Grand-Madieu is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Le Vieux-Cérier in the north, Saint-Laurent-de-Céris in the east, Saint-Claud in the south, Parzac in the south and west and Turgon in the north-west.
