The Schwalm-Eder parish is a parish of the Evangelical Church of Kurhessen-Waldeck (EKKW) in the Marburg district . It was created on January 1st, 2020 through the merger of the Fritzlar-Homberg , Melsungen and Ziegenhain parishes and is the largest parish of the regional church.

117,000 Protestant Christians live in the 181 parishes of the church district. 129 pastors are responsible for them. The managing director is Dean Christian Wachter. The seat is Schwalmstadt ; the planned seat of the church district office is Homberg (Efze) .

The church district extends roughly over the Schwalm-Eder district and parts of the political communities Neustadt (Marburg-Biedenkopf district), Alsfeld (Vogelsberg district), Breitenbach (Hersfeld-Rotenburg district).

location

It borders the Hersfeld-Rotenburg and Werra-Meißner church districts in the east, Kaufungen in the north and Eder and Kirchhain in the east. The Evangelical Church in Hesse and Nassau joins in the south .
