Peter Poschwatta

Peter Poschwatta (born September 16, 1934 in Schwerin ; † July 23, 2019 ) was a German brigadier general . From 1983 to 1991 he was in command of the "Telecommunications School and Technical College of the Army for Electrical Engineering", since 2006 the Bundeswehr School of Information Technology .

Life

Poschwatta graduated from high school and joined the Bundeswehr as a radio operator in 1956. He completed an officer training and was made a lieutenant in 1957 . In 1968 he was promoted to major and in 1983 finally to brigadier general. In the intervening years he was, among other things, company commander of the telecommunications battalion 210 and 230 and commander of the telecommunications battalion of the 7th Panzer Division . He also worked as a consultant and head of department for the personnel management of officers in the telecommunications troops (army) of the Federal Ministry of Defense . On October 1, 1983 he became the commander of the "Telecommunications School and Technical College of the Army for Electrical Engineering", where he had previously worked as an S3 officer, S1 staff officer and head of inspection, among other things.

Poschwatta was married and had three children. Lieutenant General Thorsten Poschwatta is his son; Major General Siegfried Poschwatta is his brother.
