Heinebach is the largest part of the municipality of Alheim in the Hersfeld-Rotenburg district in eastern Hesse .

Geographical location

Heinebach is located in northeast Hesse , in the Fulda river valley and on its eastern valley slopes, between Rotenburg an der Fulda and Melsungen . To the south of the village is the commercial area of ​​the municipality of Alheim.

history

The place was first mentioned in a document in the year 775. In 1229, a pleban was first documented, which suggests a church that existed at that time. 1324 and 1326 a "Herhove" is named as a priest in Heinebach. The Protestant church was rebuilt in 1730, the painting in 1747. From 1678 to 1938 there was a Jewish community in Heinebach with its own synagogue and school. The deceased Jews were buried in the Jewish cemetery in Binsförth . In 1939 the village had 1260 inhabitants and belonged to the Melsungen district .

Territorial reform

As part of the regional reform in Hesse , Heinebach, which until then belonged to the district of Melsungen, was merged with nine other villages on August 1, 1972 to form the newly founded community of Alheim. The municipal administration is located in neighboring Baumbach.

Heinebach is currently (2012) provided with three general practitioners, a dentist and a pharmacy. The retail offer in town includes several supermarkets, bakers, butchers, a hardware store, a textile shop and other smaller providers, as well as a gas station with a washing facility. On the western edge of the village, the federal highway 83 and the Bebra – Baunatal-Guntershausen railway line intersect the village. There is a train station in Heinebach.

Local public transport (ÖPNV) is organized under the umbrella of the NVV . Heinebach is a train stop on the Bebra-Baunatal-Guntershausen railway line and also has several bus stops. In the bus stop at Heinebach train station, star-shaped bus connections from all parts of Alheim converge.
