Erdpenhausen is the smallest district of the municipality of Alheim in the Hersfeld-Rotenburg district in eastern Hesse .

Geographical location

Erdpenhausen is located in the Stölzinger Mountains about 2 km west of the Alheimer ( 548.7  m above sea  level ). It is traversed by the Fulda tributary Gude . The state road  3304 runs through the village ; it connects the four villages of the Gudegrund : Obergude , Niedergude , Erdpenhausen and Hergershausen .

history

The place was first mentioned in a document in 1366 in the copy of the Hersfeld abbot Berthold II, as a fief of the ministerial Otto von Rodinberg from Hersfeld . The place came to the Landgraviate of Hesse in the 15th century .

The population of the small village rose from 113 in 1939 to 201 in 1950 as a result of the influx of bombed out and displaced persons after the Second World War , but then gradually declined again. Today there are around 100 again.

As part of the regional reform in Hesse , Erdpenhausen was merged with nine other communities on August 1, 1972 to form a new community called Alheim.
