Baumbach is a district of the municipality of Alheim in the Hersfeld-Rotenburg district in East Hesse .

geography

The village of Baumbach is located in northern Hesse on the Fulda and is the second largest district of the municipality of Alheim.

history

The place is first mentioned in a document in 1003. It was in the lower court of the Hessian district of Rotenburg . The Hessian noble family of the Lords of Baumbach comes from this place .

From the 18th century to 1938 there was a Jewish community with a synagogue , a school and a cemetery . In 1939 the village had 597 inhabitants and belonged to the Rotenburg (Fulda) district .

As part of the regional reform in Hesse , Baumbach was merged with nine other villages on August 1, 1972 to form the newly founded community of Alheim.

Baumbach was awarded the 2nd winner in the 1999 "Children in the Village - Villages for Children" competition and in the 2000 state contest.

Economy and Infrastructure

In Baumbach there is a village community center and a kindergarten as well as a children's playground .

In the east the federal road 83 leads past the place and in the village the state roads 3208 and 3253 meet .

About one kilometer northeast of the village is the former Baumbach stop on the Bebra-Baunatal-Guntershausen railway line , which lies on the other side of the Fulda and on the outskirts of the neighboring town of Hergershausen .
