Licherode is a district of the municipality of Alheim in the Hersfeld-Rotenburg district in eastern Hesse .

The village is surrounded by forest on the Fulda - inflow gravity .

history

The place was first mentioned in a document in 1353. The “ Rengshausen court ” with the villages of Hausen, Licherode, Lichtenhagen, Nausis and Nenterode belonged to the Hessian office of Rotenburg from 1579 , which was part of the Rotenburger Quart from 1627 to 1835 .

In 1939 the village had 180 inhabitants. It belonged to the Rotenburg (Fulda) district until 1972 . As part of the regional reform in Hesse , Licherode was merged with nine other villages on August 1, 1972 to form the newly founded community of Alheim.

Awards

Licherode won the "European Village Renewal Award" in 1996 and the "Our Village" award in 2002.

education

The ecological school camp Alheim-Licherode is connected to an environmental education center, which has already been awarded three times by UNESCO as an official project of the UN World Decade of Education for Sustainable Development.

traffic

Licherode is located on the K 66 district road coming from Oberellenbach in the east. The ICE high-speed line Hanover – Würzburg runs near the village . It gave its name to the Licherode overtaking station .

Public facilities

In Licherode there is a village community center , a thing square with an 800-year-old linden tree and a campsite .
